Artist: Claude Lorrain (c. 1600 - 1682) was a famous French painter, who lived and worked in Italy.
EngraverRichard Earlom (1743 – 1822) was an English mezzotinter.
Title (as is in the descriptive catalog): [Vol.II]. No. 137. A View of the Sea, and the Representation of a Battle on a Bridge. (1777 ed.). No.137.  View of a Sea Port, and a distant fortified Town. About the center of the scene is a Battle on a Bridge, from which the affrighted Peasants are escaping. (1819 ed.).

Materials and Techniques:  Etching with mezzotint on wove paper.
Condition: Creases of paper. Old stains. Tears to margins. Sewing holes suggested that the sheet was taken from the binding to the upper margin. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
