Artist: Bernard Picart or Picard (1673 – 1733) was a French draughtsman, engraver, and book illustrator in Amsterdam.
Title: [Penitent Bramins in different postures].
- A penitent Female Bramin, who stands forever in the same postures as a devotee, attended by her maid, comes to recommend herſelf to her Prayers.
- Another is the penitent fitting in a very uneasy posture, which he is not allowed to change.
- N°1. A penitent who stands with his hand over his head till he dies. 2. Posture in which the penitents sleep without ever lower their arms.
- A pelerine of Female Bramin.

Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
Condition: The left edge of the sheet is slightly damaged by detachment from bookbinding, and at the same time, because the sheet was inside the book, it was protected from sunlight. Scattered foxings to margins, one tear to the right margin. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
