Artist: possibly, Hans Schaufelein, (German, c.1482-1539/1540), painter and designer of woodcuts and glass-paintings. Strongly influenced by Albrecht Dürer, in whose studio in Nuremberg he worked from c. 1503. The more than thirty woodcuts for "Laienspiegel" created by the monogrammist HF and by Hans Schäufelein are known.

Condition: Trimmed and bumped margins. The lower right corner is torn off. Worn paper, water stains. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
Part of: page XXXIIII in the edition of 1538. The work was important enough to pass through 14 editions in the 16th century. This work commonly referred to as "Layenspiegel. Von rechtmässigen ordnungen inn Burgerlichenn vnd Peinlichen Regimenten...". 1538.
