Artist: Giovanni Baglione (Italian, c.1570-1643), painter and biographer, after. This is the first thought of Knight Baglioni, for the Painting he made in the Consistory Hall in the Vatican. The subject is S. Pierre who, while baptizing St. Prisque, shows a book in which these words of Jesus Christ are made, "Petre amas me". This Design, done in pen and washed, is in the Cabinet of Mr. Crozat. (from the Description part of the Recueil d'Estampes).
Engraver: Paul Ponce Antoine Robert de Séri  (French, 1686-1733), painter and reproductive engraver and etcher. Worked for Crozat, supplying outline etchings for the woodcut tone blocks. Engraved in etching by P. P. A. Robert, and in wood under his supervision by Nicolas le Sueur.
EngraverNicolas Lesueur (French, 1690-1764), chiaroscuro woodcuts, with blocks printed over woodcut or etched base. Worked for Recueil Crozat.

Condition: The left edge has cuts and holes from a binding cord. Wear to edges. Clean, bright impression. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
