Artist: Hendrik Pothoven (Dutch, 1725-1795), painter and draughtsman, working in Amsterdam.
Engraver: Pieter Willem van Megen (Dutch, 1750-1785), engraver, working in The Hague and Paris.
Title:  Portrait of Elbertus Leoninus (Dutch1519/ 1520-1598 (c.), a juridical professor from 1548 till 1579 in Louvain. During the Eighty Years' War an important person, mediated between the Netherlands and Don John of Austria. He wrote Historia Belli Belgici and took an important position within the legislation of Gelderland.
