Note: J.-J. Benjamin-Constant received a third class medal at the Paris Salon in 1874 for a painting "Moroccan Prisoners". At least two more paintings dedicated to this subject are known to exist. Besides this etching executed by the artist himself, there is a woodcut engraving "Thirst: Prisoners in Morocco" from The Masterpieces of French Art by Louis Viardot, Published by Gravure Goupil et Cie, Paris, 1882, Gebbie & Co., Philadelphia, 1883.
