Title: John Locke FRS (1632 – 1704) was an English philosopher and physician, widely regarded as one of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers and commonly known as the "father of liberalism."  
Dimensions: Image 6 1/2" x 5 3/4". Mat 10" x 8 1/8".
Date: 1877.
Materials and Techniques: wood engraving and letterpress verso, cutting, possibly, from The Trial at Bar of Sir Roger C.D. Tichborne. 
Mat and Frame: Matted. The collector's label, attached to the mat, contains unverified information.
Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
Condition: Mat is faded. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
