Artist: Etienne Allegrain was a French topographical painter, inspired by Nicolas Poussin (France, 1644-1736).

Materials and Techniques: Pen and black ink and brush and gray wash on laid paper, tondo. 
Mat and Frame: mounted on the blue support paper; matted, floated against the mat.
Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
Condition: Fading, wear; tear and lost corners to support. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
