Artist: Paris Bordone was an Italian painter of the Venetian Renaissance (1500 -1571). Painting not recorded in G. Canova, 'Paris Bordone' 1963.
Intermediary draughtsman: Matthäus Österreich (Germany, 1716 - 1778).
Engraver: Philipp-Andreas Kilian (Germany, 1714 - ?1759).

Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
Condition: Trimmed to the image. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.

Comte de Brühl, Prime Minister of the King of Poland, owned a large collection of paintings, drawings, and prints, including many Dutch and Flemish masters. In 1769 Catherine the Great bought six hundred paintings from his estate; these largely ended up in the Hermitage.
