Artist: Samuel Prout (British, 1783-1852), Watercolourist and printmaker.
Title Ewenny. [Preserved County of South Glamorgan]. Ewenny Priory (Welsh: Priordy Ewenni), in Ewenny in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, was a monastery of the Benedictine order, founded in the 12th century.
Signed, Numbered, Titled, and DatedLettered within image in reverse on stone above screen Fear God / Honour the King / Anno Domini 1631. above image at upper right 'Pl.12.', below image with Ewenny on chine, followed by publication line: 'London. Pubd, "by R. Ackermann & Co" 96, Strand. / Printed by C. Hullmandel.'

Provenance:  The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.
Condition:  Support is worn; soiling. Traces of binding to the left edge. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
