Artist: Thomas Holloway (British, 1749-1827), painter in crayons, reproductive engraver, and publisher of his own work; born and died in London. Entered RA Schools as engraver 1773; exh. SA 1777-78; titled 'Historical Engraver to His Majesty" in 1816.
Title Portrait of William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield (British, 1705-1793), Lord Chief Justice, 1756-88. Remembered for his pioneering judgment that English law did not recognize the state of slavery.
