Date: 1780’s—1820’s. In 1780, with the support of Louis XVI, Séroux d'Agincourt began to compile material for his History of Arts, considered almost the first book dedicated to the history of the Christian arts from antiquity through the Renaissance. He employed a number of skilled draughtsmen, architects, and engravers, including Italian printmaker G.G. Machiavelli. (Dumbarton Oaks, Hollis Number 005454310). Giachetti's edition was published in 1826–1829.

Condition: This is a page taken from the discarded book. The left edge has pinholes and was roughly torn out. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
