Artist:  Maerten de Vos, Maerten de Vos the Elder, or Marten de Vos (1532 – 1603), was a Flemish painter.
Engraver: Jan (Johannes) Sadeler, Flemish draughtsman, engraver, and publisher, eldest of three brothers. The Sadeler family was the largest and probably the most successful dynasty of Flemish engravers.  
Anonymous engraver: reversed copy of the print made by Jan Sadeler after Maarten de Vos.
Title: Maria Abrahami Eremitae Neptis (Mary the Nephew of Abraham the Hermit).
Titled and inscribed in plate: Maria Abrahami Eremitae Neptis. Abrami neptis inveni dum credit amanti Exit desertum luxuriaque vacat. Post pertasa probi, repetit quam liquit eremum, Et moritur Claris cincta caput radiis.
Dimensions: Sheet 6 7/8" x 8 7/8". The engraving of this size is unknown to us.
The unidentified edition of "Solitudo, sive vitæ foeminarum anachoritarum." It is known at least ten editions of XVII C.
Date: 1580 - 1700.

- Monogram AU stamp in ink in Gothic script verso. (Not in Lugt).
- The Estate of George "Yorgo" Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute, and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1965-2000.

Condition: Strong impression. Remnants of glue verso. The signs of aging are appropriate for the time. A detailed condition report is available on demand.
